The Arc of Howard County is seeking a Job Developer to assist individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilites (IDD) find employment in an field of the indiviudals choosing.  The ideal candidate would be outgoing, creative and have excellent communication skills with all stakeholders.  We are seeking someone who can meet with and assess the interest and aptitudes of the people we support, find a match for the desired job and skills in the community and then build a strong working relationship with an area employer to secure employment for the individual.  

The ideal candidate must be committed to The Arc's mission of achieving full community life for people with IDD.  This candidate would also be professional, open-minded, flexible and tenacious.

Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM with some flexibility based on the needs of the people supported [40 hours]


  • Use person centered and community employment planning to help the people they are supporting identify their career and employment interests.
  • Assist the people they are supporting in acquiring the necessary resources to achieve their employment objectives.
  • Support people to navigate and prepare for the application and interview process.
  • Cultivate, develop and maintain positive relationships with area businesses.
  • Provide job supports such as coaching, instruction, travel training, personal care assistance, behavioral supports and other delegate tasks applicable to the employment activities.
  • Use technology such as smartphones and laptops to communicate with other stakeholders and complete necessary paperwork for the position. 

Required Knowledge/Qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a GED or High School Diploma
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid Maryland's driver license and daily access to an insured vehicle to travel
  • Excellent time management and customer service skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully complete all agency required training
  • Experience assisting people to seek and/or obtain employment (Preferred)
